Puzzle #27: "Better Halves"

Today's offering is a easy themed puzzle that's been sitting in my files for what feels like ages. (It's actually been just a year, but maybe you'll agree that time has been moving like molasses lately.) Although the theme is a spin on one you've seen before, I quite like the tightness of this set — even if one of the theme entries was deemed too obscure by mainstream editors.

This puzzle also contains one of my favorite clues I've ever written, at 23-A. Hope you like it!
