Another midi (10×10) for you this weekend! Sometimes, the crossword gods are extra kind; today's theme pair is one of my favorites. (Is this really the first time these two entries have been featured together in a puzzle? If not, please let me know.)

The clue for 26-D was subliminally inspired by this "Calvin and Hobbes" comic strip. Much of my sense of humor and worldview was shaped by reading Mr. Watterson's work when I was younger. His genius is in writing a strip both funny enough to draw genuine laughs and thought-provoking enough to stimulate a lifelong curiosity about the world.

Enjoy the puzzle!
